About Yuliya Mihalik
Yuliya Mihalik has been telling stories for as long as she can remember, even assigning characters to her elementary school friends and making them act out the scenes during recess that she would later write in her budding notebook collection. Now grown up, the only person she asks to help her act out scenes is her partner of twelve years.
Yuliya prefers to live like she is a fantasy character, whether that is wearing a cloak since 2nd grade and dressing like an Elven princess, or taking fencing, archery, and horseback riding lessons. But more than anything, she loves animals. A lifelong vegetarian and more recent vegan, she has a Bachelor’s of Science in biology, with a focus on ethology and zoology. Themes of conservation and environmentalism are woven through all of her writing.
She was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, and continues to live there with her partner, dog, and two cats (Potato, Pie, and Pickle). She enjoys reading as much as she possibly can, talking about those books with her queer community, and disappearing into the woods.
